The school is in many ways a special and important place: the search for identity, learning of moral codes, the first experiences of being part of a defined group.

I began school in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. Ten years later I completed my schooling in the same school, in the same place, but in a new country. Within a short time many changes took place: what was embarrassing yesterday has become suddenly honourable, and vice versa.
